October 2nd, 2024 – 2:10 PM

Officers spoke with a caller in reference to a fraud. The caller advised that they were attempting to

obtain a loan through LendingTree and were later contacted by a representative claiming to be from the

company. The representative informed the caller that they would need their banking information in

order to send the money. The victim later realized they were being scammed. The victim was advised to

contact their bank’s fraud department. (Incident #PD24-04517)


Counterfeiting

1489 Boxwood Ter

October 2nd, 2024 – 11:46 PM


Officers responded to Wendy’s in reference to a counterfeit bill being passed. A subject used a twenty-

dollar bill to pay for their food. When the clerk addressed the subject about the bill being counterfeit,


the subject drove off. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04520)

1164 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

October 3rd, 2024 – 12:49 AM

Officers responded to McDonald’s in reference to a counterfeit bill. The subject used a counterfeit bill to

pay for their food items and drove off before the clerk realized the money was counterfeit. The Patrol

Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04522)

October 4th, 2024 – 10:11 AM

Officers responded to the police department for a report regarding a victim who was notified of a credit

card opened in their name with an outstanding balance that they did not contribute to. The victim

stated that they had lost their wallet around the time the credit card was opened. The Patrol Division is

1300+ Peaks St

October 4th, 2024 – 6:26 PM

Officers were patrolling the 1300 block of Peaks Street when they observed that five political campaign

signs were missing. The property owner was contacted to determine if the signs had been taken down,

and officers were informed that the signs had not been removed by the owner and were stolen. The

Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04529)

October 5th, 2024 – 8:54 AM

Officers responded to a call on Rock Castle Road regarding the destruction of campaign signs. Multiple

signs were damaged, and a large sign was stolen. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-

Officers were dispatched to a call regarding an individual’s vehicle tags being stolen. The victim did not

wish to press charges but was concerned that the tags might be used to run tolls or in the commission of

a crime. The vehicle tags were later located by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. (Incident #PD24-

October 5th, 2024 – 11:49 AM

Officers responded to a call regarding a large political banner that was stolen. Officers searched the area

for any evidence left by the offender, but no leads have been found. (Incident #PD24-04533)

October 5th, 2024 – 3:16 PM

Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a larceny. An employee allegedly witnessed a customer

placing various items into two bags they were carrying. The customer was identified as Haley Lillie, 29,

of Bedford. Lillie was issued a summons for Petit Larceny. (Incident #PD24-04536)

October 8th, 2024 – 11:13 AM

Officers responded to Lowes for a report of a larceny that had occurred a few weeks prior. An employee

advised officers that a subject grabbed some larger items and passed all points of sale without paying

for them. The subject has been identified, and charges have been placed. The arrest is pending. (Incident

Fraud

115 W Main St

October 8th, 2024 – 11:19 AM

Officers received a call from Truist Bank regarding a customer reporting a large amount of money was

taken from their account. A subject came into Truist Bank a few weeks prior, presented a fake ID to the

teller, and withdrew the money. The suspect has been identified, and charges are pending. (Incident

#PD24-04550)


Warrant Service

900+ Blue ridge Ave

October 9th, 2024 – 7:56 PM

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person walking near the Super 8 Hotel on 460. The caller

advised dispatch that the male subject was stumbling while walking up the side of the road, appeared to

be yelling at traffic, and might run into traffic. Officers made contact with the individual, later identified

as Christopher Tyree, 29, of Roanoke. Dispatch informed officers that Tyree had a felony warrant out of

Roanoke. Tyree was placed under arrest and transported to the Magistrate’s office, where he was held

without bond due to the judge’s order on the capias. (Incident #PD24-04558)


DUI Arrest

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

October 11th, 2024 – 1:31 PM

Officers responded to Walmart for a report of an intoxicated subject. The subject was later identified as

Delbert Garrison, 68, of Bedford. Garrison was taken before the magistrate, where warrants for DUI

(4th offense), concealed weapon (2nd offense), and driving on a revoked license were obtained. He was

held without bond. (Incident #PD24-04566)


Destruction of Property

1800+ Oakwood St

October 11th, 2024 – 1:53 PM

Officers responded to a call regarding property damage. The victim stated that a scratch on their vehicle

was not present the previous day when they walked out to get the mail. The victim noticed the 4-foot

long scratch while washing the vehicle. The victim filed a claim with their insurance company. Extra

patrols will be conducted in the area due to the incident. (Incident #PD24-04565)

October 12th, 2024 – 1:52 PM

Officers were patrolling the area of 460 when they observed a driver talking on the phone while driving.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was operating the vehicle without a

license. The officers were granted consent to search the vehicle and located items consistent with drug

use. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04570)


DUI Arrest

1343 Moneta Rd

October 13th, 2024 – 2:13 PM

Officers were patrolling the area of 460 when they observed a subject driving at a high rate of speed.

The subject was identified as Jason Beach, 46, of Bedford. While running the vehicle’s tags with

dispatch, officers were informed that Beach had a suspended license. Officers initiated a traffic stop and

later transported Beach to the magistrate’s office, where a warrant for driving while intoxicated was

DUI Arrest

907 Burks Hill Rd

October 14th, 2024 – 12:59 AM

Officers were patrolling the 1000 block of West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike when they observed a traffic

violation that led to a traffic stop. Loran Shepherd, 36, of Bedford was later transported to the

magistrate’s office where charges for DUI, open container, and failure to maintain lanes were obtained

DUI Arrest

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass/Blue Ridge Ave

October 14th, 2024 – 6:06 AM

Officers responded to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass for a single-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the

driver was identified as Angela Tucker, 56, of Salem. Tucker was later transported to the magistrate’s

office, where charges for DUI and reckless driving were obtained against her. She was set to have a bond

hearing once sober. (Incident #PD24-04578)


Larceny

1505 Longwood Ave

October 14th, 2024 – 3:51 PM

Officers were dispatched to Dollar General for a report of shoplifting. The manager stated that three

juveniles entered the store, picked up a few items, and left without paying. The manager requested that

the juveniles be accompanied by a parent or guardian while in the store, but did not wish to press

charges or have them banned from the property. All juveniles and their guardians were notified of the

manager’s request. (Incident #PD24-04580)

October 14th, 2024 – 8:25 PM

Officers spoke with a victim over the phone regarding a scam call. The victim advised they had received

a call from a subject impersonating a police officer, who stated the victim had missed jury duty. The

subject claimed there would be warrants out for the victim's arrest for failure to appear, and they would

need to pay $1,000 for their federal bond. The victim purchased two gift cards for $500 each and sent

them to the address provided. (Incident #PD24-04581)


Larceny

100+ Woodcreek Rd

October 16th, 2024 – 3:59 PM

Officers responded to a call regarding the larceny of a license plate. The victim stated that they noticed,

about two weeks prior, that their tag was missing and that there was damage to the front bracket and

plate cover. The tags have been entered as stolen, and the Patrol Division is continuing to investigate.

October 17th, 2024 – 2:38 PM

Officers were conducting patrol when they observed a vehicle with an expired state inspection and no

front tag. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect began to speed and drive

recklessly in an attempt to flee. The officer later conducted a consent search and found items consistent

with drug use. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04606)

700+ Blue Ridge Ave

October 17th, 2024 – 5:40 PM

Officers received a call regarding someone opening a business account with a bank using the victim’s

name and social security number. No money was deposited into the account, and the victim had not lost

any funds. The victim was advised to contact the Social Security office about the misuse of their

information. The victim was also provided with a case number for their records. (Incident #PD24-04608)


Larceny

875 Blue Ridge Ave

October 19th, 2024 – 3:16 PM

Officers were dispatched to Royal Farms in reference to a larceny. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the

store manager, who stated a subject entered the store, ordered food, and left without paying for it. The

Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04622)


Public Intoxication

862 Burks Hill Rd

October 23th, 2024 – 12:12 AM

Officers were dispatched to the Shell station in response to four 911 hang-up calls. Upon arrival, officers

observed a male subject lying at the entrance of the establishment. The subject displayed behavior

consistent with intoxication. The male was identified as Curtis Neff, 38, of Hot Springs. Neff was

arrested for public intoxication and transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where he was held until

sober. (Incident #PD24-04640)


Public Intoxication/Destruction of Property

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

October 25th, 2024 – 3:15 PM

Officers responded to Walmart for a disturbance. Upon arrival, they placed a male in handcuffs due to

his aggressive behavior. The male was identified as Ryan Jackson, 47, of Bedford. Jackson was arrested

for public intoxication and transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where he was held until sober. While

exiting the magistrate’s office, Jackson caused damage to a door. He was then charged with felony

property damage and issued a secured bond. (Incident #PD24-04649)


DUI Arrest

1202 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

October 27th, 2024 – 3:14 PM

Officers responded to the 2000 block of East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike for a report of a vehicle driving

recklessly. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle stopped in the drive-thru of a fast food

restaurant, where the driver proceeded to order food. The driver was identified as Keith Enslow, 51, of

Glen Allen. Enslow was placed under arrest, and charges were obtained for driving under the influence

and operating a vehicle on a highway without a license. (Incident #PD24-04653)
