Drugs/Narcotics

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

July 2nd, 2024 – 5:51PM

Officers responded to Walmart on East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike in reference to a male subject acting

suspiciously. Upon further investigation, Ross Southers, 60, of Hardy was transported to the magistrate

where a warrant for possession of a schedule 1 or 2 was obtained against him. He was held without

bond. (Incident #24-04149)


Indecent Exposure/Public Intoxication

1000+ Piedmont St

July 2nd, 2024 – 7:36PM

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Piedmont Street for the report of a male subject showing

his genitalia to the caller and the caller’s grandchild. Ferdinand Niyimpaye, 57 of Bedford, was later

placed under arrest for indecent exposure and public intoxication. (Incident #24-04150)


Public Intoxication

900+ Burks Hill Rd

July 4th, 2024 – 1:50AM

Officers responded to the area of Burks Hill Road for the report of a male in the roadway. Upon arrival,

officers recognized the male from previous encounters. Troy Dowdy, 56, of Bedford was later taken

before the magistrate where a warrant for public intoxication was obtained against him. He was held

until sober. (Incident #24-04159)


Destruction of Property

500+ Blue Ridge Ave

July 4th, 2024 – 1:32PM

Officers responded to the 500 block of Blue Ridge Avenue for a destruction of property. They met with

the caller who advised when they took their trash out they noticed the dumpster on the property had


been set on fire. It was later advised that the owners of the dumpster were not interested in pursuing

charges. (Incident #24-04161)


Weapons Violation

900+ Burks Hill Rd

July 4th, 2024 – 6:49PM

Officers responded to the 900 block of Burks Hill Road for a discharge firearm call. The caller advised

they drove by a residence and observed a male shooting a rifle style gun into the air. Troy Dowdy, 56, of

Bedford was placed under arrest for reckless handling of a firearm. He was transported to the Blue

Ridge Regional Jail where he was held without bond. (Incident #24-04165)


DUI Arrest

1000+ Windy Ridge Dr

July 5th, 2024 – 7:33PM

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Windy Ridge Drive in reference to a disturbance. Tyler

Goard, 22, of Bedford was subsequently arrested and taken before the magistrate where a warrant for

driving under the influence was obtained against him. (Incident #24-04170)


Fraud

1000+ Josephs Way

July 9th, 2024 – 11:28AM

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Josephs Way in reference to a reported fraud. The victim

advised that earlier in the month they were contacted by an unknown individual on Facebook. The

unknown individual told the victim they were arranging a meeting with them and needed money. The

victim purchased various gift cards for a total of four thousand dollars. (Incident #24-04182)


Destruction of Property

1100+ E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

July 10th, 2024 – 11:58AM

Officers were conducting patrol in the area of Walmart when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high

rate of speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and during the stop learned that the same

vehicle had allegedly been involved in a property damage incident minutes prior. The driver, Charles

Julian, 34, of Goode was taken into custody and transported to the magistrate’s office where a warrant

for hit and run was obtained against him. He was given an unsecured bond. (Incident #24-04191)


Larceny

900+ Ashland Ave

July 11th, 2024 – 12:00PM

Officers were contacted by a caller in reference to a larceny. The caller advised that they assist their

elderly parent with their finances and noticed that their checking account was empty. The Detective

Bureau is investigating. (Incident #24-04187)


Public Intoxication

800+ Randolph St

July 13th, 2024 – 7:49AM

Officers responded to the 800 block of Randolph Street for the report of a suspicious incident. Officers

received information that a male was in a vehicle laying on the horn and then allegedly threw rocks at a

nearby vehicle. Michael Besozzi, 34, of Ohio was later arrested for public intoxication. (Incident #PD24-

DUI Arrest

1800+ Dean Dr

July 15th, 2024 – 6:23PM

Officers responded to the 1800 block of Dean Drive in reference to an unknown vehicle parked in front

of their residence with an unknown subject inside. Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle with the

engine running and the driver slumped over in the driver’s seat. After further investigation, Lewis Lynch,

48, of Thaxton was transported to the magistrate where a warrant for driving under the influence was

obtained against him. He was set to have a bond hearing when sober. (Incident #24-04202)


Warrant Service

460/Baldwin St

July 15th, 2024 – 7:26PM

Officers were patrolling the area of route 460 and Baldwin Street when they observed a vehicle that was

parked obstructing the view of other drivers on the roadway. Officers ran the license plate with dispatch

and were advised that the vehicle’s registered owner was wanted for non-permitted warrants. Troy

Lamb, 33, of Bedford was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he was served the warrants

and held on a secured bond. (Incident #24-04204)


Warrant Service

E Lynchburg Salem Tpke / Twin Lake Dr

July 21st, 2024 – 12:08AM

Officers were patrolling the area of East Main Street and Independence Boulevard when they observed

suspicious driving behavior. Officers ran the license plate with dispatch and it returned to a subject who

was wanted on a felony warrant. Officers confirmed the information with dispatch and conducted a

traffic stop on the vehicle. Timothy Belcher, 37, of Bedford was taken into custody and transported to

the jail where he was held on a secured bond. (Incident #24-04221)


Larceny - Shoplifting

1820 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

July 21st, 2024 – 9:06AM

Officers responded to Lowe’s for the report of a larceny. A male subject can be seen on video footage

placing an item into their cart and passing all points of sale without paying for the item. The Patrol

Division is investigating. (Incident #24-04225)


Larceny - Shoplifting

1128 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

July 22nd, 2024 – 1:49PM

Officers were dispatched to 1128 East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike in reference to a larceny. The store

employee advised an individual came into the store and was waiting for assistance. While waiting, the

subject allegedly shoplifted. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #24-04229)


Driving Suspended

1929 W Lynchburg Salem Tpke

July 24th, 2024 – 8:32PM

Officers were patrolling the 1900 block of West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike when they observed a vehicle

traveling approximately 5-20 miles per hour and backing up traffic. Officers stopped with the vehicle to

check on the driver and the driver mentioned they had run out of gas. Dustin Mitchell, 34, of Bedford

was later placed under arrest for driving suspended, obstruction, assault on a law enforcement officer,

and having a concealed weapon. (Incident #24-04238)


Public Intoxication

412 Jackson St

July 25th, 2024 – 11:27AM

Officers responded to the 400 block of Jackson Street for the report of a male yelling and asking for a

ride home. Upon arrival, officers observed a male matching the description provided by the caller. The

male was known to officers from previous encounters. Officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic

beverage about his person. After further investigation, Colton Noble, 30, of Bedford was placed under

arrest and taken before the magistrate where a charge of public intoxication was obtained against him.

He was held until sober. (Incident #24-04243)


Fraud

125 W Main St

July 23rd, 2024 – 9:20AM

Officers responded to a call at Atlantic Union Bank in reference to a fraudulent check being cashed. The

Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #24-04242)


Trespassing

3 Overlord Cir

July 28th

, 2024 – 6:33PM

Officers responded to the D-Day Memorial for the report of an individual trespassing. Derek Nichols, 35,

of Bedford was subsequently issued a summons for trespassing. (Incident #24-04255)


Warrant Service

1128 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

July 30th

, 2024 – 3:11AM

Officers were in the area of Tractor Supply when they observed a male subject exhibiting suspicious

behavior. Officers approached the male and later received information from dispatch that the individual

was wanted for two failure to appear warrants from Maryland, with extradition. Michael Sullivan, 45, of

Bedford was transported to the magistrate where he was held without bond. (Incident #24-04263)
