BEDFORD, Va. The Bedford Police Department obtains charges against two individuals for the vandalism done at the Longwood Cemetery.

As a result of the investigation into the destruction of property and burglary incident that occurred on October 6, 2023 at the Greenwood/Longwood Cemetery in the Town of Bedford, the Bedford Police Department has obtained charges against both Michael Todd Shelor II of Bedford County, and Donnie Ray Evans of Roanoke. Both individuals are charged with the following offenses:

  • statutory burglary

  • destruction of property within a cemetery/burial ground

  • larceny of a motor vehicle.

Michael Shelor II was taken into custody without incident on December 1, 2023, and he was held on a secured bond. The warrants for Donnie Ray Evans are currently active and awaiting service at this time.

Update 12.2.23:

Donnie Ray Evans was taken into custody without incident on 12/2/2023 by Bedford Police.
