Officers were conducting a traffic stop when they encountered a subject wanted out of Chesterfield
County for a capias. Alicia Webster, 48, of Bedford was placed under arrest and taken before the
magistrate where she was held without bond. (Incident #24-04289)

900+ Blue Ridge Ave
August 2nd, 2024 – 10:18PM
Officers were patrolling the area of Blue Ridge Avenue when they observed a vehicle with an equipment
violation. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, Herschel Diggs,
41, of Bedford was taken into custody and transported to the magistrate where warrants for DUI 2nd
offense and obstruction were obtained against him. Diggs was granted a secured bond. (Incident #24-

Officers responded to Walmart in regards to a subject who had been observed on camera shoplifting.

800+ Blue Ridge Ave
August 3rd, 2024 – 11:55PM
Officers were traveling on 460 westbound when they observed a vehicle with suspicious driving
behavior. Officers ran the vehicle tag it returned to a subject whose license status was revoked and was
showing wanted for a felony warrant. Officers initiated a traffic stop and later transported Marinos
Gelardos, 56, of Roanoke to the magistrate where warrants for driving while intoxicated, possession of
control substances, and driving revoked were obtained against him. He was set to have a bond hearing
when sober. (Incident #24-04285)

Officers were conducting patrol in the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue when they observed a vehicle
with no state inspection and expired tags. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and located
suspected narcotics. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #24-04287)
Warrant Service
Crenshaw St / W King St
August 4th, 2024 – 3:00PM
Officers stopped a vehicle for numerous traffic violations to include expired registration, defective
exhaust, and improper display in the area of Crenshaw Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers
recognized the passenger from previous encounters. Officers also knew that the passenger was wanted
on multiple charges. The passenger provided officers with a fake name. Demonte Bryant, 27, of Bedford
was later taken into custody and served on warrants for property damage, breaking and entering,
preventing calls to 911, larceny, and other warrants obtained by a citizen. Officers also obtained a
warrant for false ID to law enforcement. Bryant was held without bond. (Incident #24-04288)
Drug/Narcotic Violations

August 7th, 2024 – 2:00PM
Officers were patrolling the area of 460 and Turnpike Road when they observed a vehicle with a loud
exhaust. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. Sarah Merritt, 33, of Lynchburg was subsequently
taken into custody and transported to the magistrate where a warrant for possession of a schedule 1 or
2 was obtained against her. She was held without bond. (Incident #24-04306)
Disturbance
300+ W Depot St
August 13th, 2024 – 6:24AM
Officers responded to the 300 block of West Depot Street in reference to a terminated employee
refusing to leave the property. After a brief investigation, Dashawn Bryant, 24, of Bedford was
transported to the magistrate where warrants were obtained for obstruction and failing to identify
himself. Bryant also had active warrants in Georgia which were not extraditable. He was granted a
secured bond. (Incident #24-04323)
Larceny - Shoplifting
300+ W Depot St
August 13th, 2024 – 6:24AM
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Longwood Avenue in reference to two juveniles stealing candy
and energy drinks. The suspects were gone prior to officer’s arrival. Officers viewed video footage of the
suspects and recognized one from previous encounters. Officers later encountered the suspects on
West Main Street and advised their parents of the shoplifting. (Incident #24-04327)

August 14th, 2024 – 12:29AM
Officers were patrolling the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue when they observed a vehicle traveling at a
high rate of speed. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Bruce Starks, 59, of Bedford was later
transported to the magistrate where a warrant for DUI second offense and a summons for speeding
were obtained against him. He was given a secured bond. (Incident #24-04328)

Officers were patrolling the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue when they observed a vehicle with no front
tag and a rear store-bought farm use tag. Officers initiated a traffic stop and later located suspected

Officers were in the area of Walmart when they observed a traffic violation that resulted in a traffic
stop. Tyler Davis, 24, of Moneta was later transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where warrants
for public intoxication and obstruction were obtained against him as well as a summons for failure to
maintain lane and improper display of license plate. (Incident #24-04343)

Officers were patrolling the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue when they observed a vehicle with
suspicious driving behavior. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Chelsi James, 32, of Farmville was
later transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where warrants for driving under the influence and
driving with a revoked status were obtained against her. (Incident #24-04357)

August 22nd, 2024 – 9:50PM
Officers responded to the 600 block of Blue Ridge Avenue in reference to a single vehicle crash. Officers
arrived and observed a vehicle that had heavy front-end damage and appeared to have struck a
telephone pole. Brittany Payne, 29, of Thaxton was later taken before the magistrate where warrants
for DUI, failure to maintain control, and possession of a schedule IV drug were obtained against her. She
was released on an unsecured bond after being deemed sober. (Incident #24-04359)
Public Intoxication

August 25th, 2024 – 3:19AM
Officers responded to MJ’s Bar and Grill for a disturbance. After a brief investigation, Johnathon Gass,
22, of Bedford was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where a charge of public intoxication was
obtained against him. He was held until sober. (Incident #24-04368)

Officers were patrolling the 800 block of Burks Hill Road when they passed a moped with no license
plate displayed. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the moped. Suspected narcotics were located.
