Shooting on Piedmont Street in the Town of Bedford.

BEDFORD, VA – On Thursday, May 14, 2026, shortly after 9:00 p.m. officers from the
Bedford Police Department responded to a shooting on Piedmont Street in the Town of
Bedford.
Officers discovered that a 29-year-old man was shot outside a residence in the 1000
block of Piedmont Street. The shooter fled the scene and has not been located. The
victim was stabilized at Bedford Memorial Hospital and then flown to another area
hospital for surgery. As of the most recent update, the victim has survived emergency
surgery. The investigation is ongoing and BPD detectives are actively working the
case.
The shooter has not been apprehended at this time, however this appears to be an
isolated incident. The scene has been contained by BPD and there is no evidence that
there is an ongoing threat to the general public. No further information will be released
