Summary:
On November 26, 2024, the Bedford Police Department received a complaint regarding a five-month-old child who sustained a broken arm at a local daycare. Following a thorough investigation, which involved the Bedford County Department of Social Services and the Virginia Department of Education’s Office of Child Care Health and Safety, felony charges were filed against 36-year-old Kellie Nicole Daflucas of Bedford County.
The daycare facility was cooperative throughout the investigation, and after reviewing over 130 hours of video footage and conducting several interviews, detectives identified more than one victim. Three felony warrants (COV 18.2-371.1) were issued on January 7, 2025, related to incidents occurring between November 12, 2024, and November 26, 2024.
