DUI Arrest

900+ Blue Ridge Ave

May 1, 2024 – 11:50PM

Officers were patrolling the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue when they observed suspicious driving

behavior that resulted in a traffic stop. Christopher Chambers, 30, of Lynchburg was subsequently taken

into custody and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where a warrant for driving under the

influence was obtained against him. He was set to be held until sober. (Incident #2402597)


Sexual Offense

100+ North Bridge St

May 2, 2024 – 11:18AM

Officers responded to the 100 block of North Bridge Street in reference to a male going into businesses

asking for money. It was also advised the male had made inappropriate gestures to a store clerk. As a

result of the investigation, Ferdinand Niyimpaye, 56, of Bedford was arrested for simulated

masturbation and public intoxication. He was taken into custody and transported to the Blue Ridge

Regional Jail where he was held without bond. (Incident #2402604)


Fraud

1300+ Emerald View Ct

May 2, 2024 – 11:16AM

Officers spoke to an individual who advised they have been the victim of a scam. The individual had

been speaking to someone online in reference to vehicle parts and sent money for the parts and did not

hear back from the seller. The Detective Bureau is investigating. (Incident #2402607)


Larceny - Shoplifting

1507 Longwood Ave

May 2, 2024 – 6:02PM

Officers responded to the Dollar General on Longwood Avenue for the report of a subject who had just

left the store after shoplifting. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #2402619)


Larceny - Shoplifting

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

May 5, 2024 – 5:00PM

Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a subject who had been stopped by asset protection for

shoplifting. Asset protection advised that the female subject had concealed items and passed all points

of sale with the merchandise. After further investigation, Christina Scruggs, 39, of Salem was issued a

summons for petit larceny. (Incident #2402675)


Larceny

400+ W King St

May 5, 2024 – 5:00PM

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West King Street for the report of juveniles stealing a

bicycle out of a yard. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #2402677)


Destruction of Property

800+ Judd St

May 6, 2024 – 7:25PM

Officers responded to the 800 block of Judd Street in reference to a disturbance. One subject advised

they had gotten into an argument with another subject and that some of their property had been

broken in the argument. Parties were advised on the process for obtaining charges and protective

orders. (Incident #2402696)


Warrant Service

600+ F St

May 6, 2024 – 7:31PM

Officers were in route to a disturbance when they observed a male known to them from previous

encounters. They checked his wanted status with dispatch and it was confirmed the male had three

active capiases. Johnathan Brunk, 45, of Bedford was taken into custody and transported to the

magistrate where he was held without bond. (Incident #2402699)


Fraud

1000+ Coolbrook Rd

May 9, 2024 – 5:00PM

Officers spoke with an individual who believes he has been a victim of a fraud. The individual advised

they thought they won money from Publisher’s Clearinghouse. The individual was sent a check for 2.5


million dollars but was told they would have to send a cashier’s check to receive the funds. The

Detective Bureau is investigating. (Incident #2402766)


Larceny

817 Burks Hill Rd

May 12, 2024 – 2:50PM

Officers responded to the Happy Food Mart on Burks Hill Road in reference to a larceny of fuel. The

subject filled their vehicle with fuel and left without paying. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident


Trespassing

500+ Plunkett St

May 15, 2024 – 1:00PM

Officers observed a male subject standing near the train tracks. The male was known to officers from

previous encounters as well as issues with him walking across the train tracks. Jermaine Linton, 40, of

Bedford was released on a summons for trespassing on train tracks. (Incident #2402883)


Public Intoxication

1613 Oakwood St

May 15, 2024 – 3:37PM

Officers responded to Bedford Memorial Hospital for the report of a disturbance. Hunter Noel, 25, of

Bedford was subsequently placed under arrest for public intoxication. He was transported to the Blue

Ridge Regional Jail where he was held until sober. (Incident #2402890)


DUI Arrest

514 Blue Ridge Ave

May 15, 2024 – 3:37PM

Officers responded to the 500 block of Blue Ridge Avenue for the report of a vehicle crash. While in

route, officers were informed that one of the parties involved in the crash left the scene and made a

statement that they had been drinking. After further investigation James Starks, 61, of Bedford was

placed under arrest and taken before the magistrate where charges for driving under the influence and

felony hit and run were obtained against him. (Incident #2402891)


Public Intoxication

407 N Bridge St

May 18, 2024 – 5:27PM

Officers were at the BP Station on Bridge Street when they came in contact with a female subject who

had slurred speech and an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Kara Craighead, 39,

of Bedford was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the magistrate where a warrant for

public intoxication was obtained against her. (Incident #2402956).


Public Intoxication

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

May 18, 2024 – 10:00PM

Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a male subject in the parking lot who appeared to

have had a medical emergency and was trying to drive away. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the

male subject who was identified as Bryan Kast. Bryan Kast, 53, of Goode was later placed under arrest

for public intoxication. He was held until sober. (Incident #2402963)


Destruction of Property

600+ Pinecrest Ave

May 20, 2024 – 4:40PM

Officers responded to the 600 block of Pinecrest Avenue in reference to property damage located on the

caller’s vehicle. The caller advised there were new minor scratches on their vehicle. The Patrol Division is

investigating. (Incident #2402989)


Larceny - Shoplifting

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

May 20, 2024 – 6:51PM

Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a female subject who had been caught shoplifting by

asset protection. Yolanda Witt, 59, of Bedford was issued a summons for petit larceny and given an

advisement date. (Incident #2402991)


Fraud

100+ E Main St

May 24, 2024 – 4:22PM

Officers were contacted by another jurisdiction about a stolen check being forged and uttered in the

Town of Bedford. The Detective Bureau is investigating. (Incident #24-04008)


Indecent Exposure

720 Blue Ridge Avenue

May 28, 2024 – 6:58PM

Officers responded to 720 Blue Ridge Avenue in reference to a male subject urinating out of a window.

Caleb Brennan, 21, of Bedford was later served a permitted warrant for incident exposure. (Incident

#24-04025)


Larceny - Shoplifting

1507 Longwood Ave

May 28, 2024 – 9:51PM

Officers responded to the Dollar General in reference to a female subject shoplifting. The individual had

already left the store. The patrol division is investigating. (Incident #24-04026)
