Officers responded to Royal Farms for a report of larceny. An employee advised they observed a female
subject enter the store with an empty bag and leave with items inside the bag. The Patrol Division is

June 2nd, 2025 – 11:50 AM
Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a larceny. They made contact with an asset protection
employee, who advised they stopped a male subject after he was observed placing items in a bag at self-
checkout without paying. The employee also stated the same subject had stolen from the store on two
previous occasions. The employee will be obtaining warrants for the subject. (Incident #PD25-00579)
Assault

June 2nd, 2025 – 1:49 PM
Officers responded to Walmart regarding an assault. Upon arrival, they made contact with the victim,
who reported that while shopping, another customer approached her, made comments, and later
assaulted her. The female subject left the store before officers arrived but was later identified. Officers
obtained a misdemeanor warrant for assault on Jordan Fleshman, 32, of Goode. (Incident #PD25-

Protective Order Violation
F St
June 3rd, 2025 – 12:30 PM
Officers responded to F Street in reference to a protective order violation. Contact was made with a
male subject who had previously been served and was prohibited from being on the property. Kevin
Bobbitt, 38, of Bedford, was placed under arrest and taken to the magistrate, where a warrant for
violation of a protective order was obtained and served. He was granted an unsecured bond. (Incident

DUI Arrest
123 E Main St
June 3rd, 2025 – 4:23 PM
Officers responded to the 100 block of East Main Street for a report of a male subject passed out in the
driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in a 15-minute loading zone. The caller suspected he was intoxicated.
Douglas Jenkins, 50, of Arizona, was later placed under arrest for driving under the influence. He was
transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail and was to be released once sober. (Incident #PD25-00588)
DUI Arrest

June 6th, 2025 – 3:53 PM
While conducting patrols at Walmart, officers observed a vehicle making multiple unsuccessful attempts
to park and noted an equipment violation. They approached the driver and later arrested Sarah Merritt,
34, of Boston, for driving under the influence. She was transported to the magistrate’s office, where the
warrant was obtained and served. She was granted a secured bond. (Incident #PD25-00601)

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to use a turn signal. The passenger was
confirmed to have an active permitted warrant out of Roanoke City. Nicholas Cundiff, 27, of Radford,

DUI Arrest
702 Orange St
June 7th, 2025 – 2:08 AM
While patrolling the area of East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, officers observed suspicious driving
behavior and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approach, they observed several empty beer cans on the
passenger-side floorboard. Hunter Wells, 19, of Bedford, was arrested for driving under the influence
under the age of 21 and transported to the magistrate’s office. He was to be released once sober.

Vehicle Pursuit
460 / 1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke
June 7th, 2025 – 4:24 PM
While stationary in the median of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass, officers observed a vehicle on radar
traveling 113 mph in a posted 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was attempted, and a pursuit ensued. The
driver was apprehended with the assistance of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. Andrew Burke, 19,
of Concord, was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. Warrants were obtained for reckless driving
by speed, felony elude, altered tags, and failure to register a vehicle. He was granted a secured bond.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle entering Royal Farms on Blue Ridge Avenue. One of the
passengers was found to have two active capiases out of Appomattox. Kaleb Johnson, 23, of Bedford,
was transported to the magistrate’s office and held without bond. (Incident #PD25-00606)

Officers responded to the 300 block of West Main Street for a report of larceny. The complainant
advised that a lawn mower had been taken from the property. The Patrol Division is investigating.

Officers responded to McDonald’s regarding an employee allegedly stealing money from the register.
Following a brief investigation, Raeven Carter, 26, of Bedford, was issued a summons for petit larceny

DUI Arrest
Route 43 Overpass
June 13th, 2025 – 9:26 PM
Officers were dispatched to a “be on the lookout” for a vehicle traveling into the Town of Bedford that
was reportedly being driven aggressively. They located the described vehicle and observed reckless
driving, including near-collisions and the vehicle almost leaving the roadway. A traffic stop was initiated,
and James Murphy, 35, of West Virginia, was arrested for driving under the influence. He was held on a

Trespassing

June 14th, 2025 – 12:20 AM
While patrolling the Farmer’s Market, officers observed a male subject known from prior encounters
asleep on a picnic table under the shelter. Officers woke the subject and informed him of the no-
trespassing policy between 11 PM and 6 AM. He was given a warning and advised he would be charged

June 17th, 2025 – 9:36 PM
Officers initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to maintain its lane. A passenger was
confirmed to have an active warrant out of Campbell County. Jermaine Robinson, 51, of Altavista, was

June 18th, 2025 – 3:39 PM
Officers responded to the 400 block of West King Street for a report of fraud. The complainant reported
receiving unauthorized charges on their bank card. A case number was provided for bank follow-up.

Officers responded to Berglund Ford for a larceny complaint. The business reported that wheels and
tires were stolen from a customer’s vehicle during overnight hours. The Detective Bureau is

Officers responded to the Twin Smokes shop for a report of a suspicious person loitering and asking
customers for money. The male subject, identified as Perry Miller, 35, of New York, was found to have
an active permitted warrant out of Lynchburg City. Officers served the warrant and advised Miller that

Trespassing/Larceny

June 19th, 2025 – 12:18 PM
Officers responded back to Twin Smokes shop after a male subject, previously barred from the property,
returned. The clerk advised the subject was told to leave but instead placed money on the counter,
reached behind it, and took an item before leaving on foot. Officers obtained warrants for trespassing
and petit larceny. (Incident #PD25-00652)

June 20th, 2025 – 3:00 PM
Officers responded to Roundtree Drive for a larceny report. The complainant advised that jewelry was
missing and believed it had been stolen while they were out of town the week prior. The Patrol Division

Officers observed a male subject known to them from previous encounters. After confirming an active
capias through dispatch, they arrested Kevin Bobbitt, 38, of Bedford. He was transported to the

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Monroe Street for a report of larceny. The complainant
reported money missing from their backpack, which they believe was stolen. The Patrol Division is

While conducting business checks, officers discovered a large glass window at Berglund GMC had been

Officers responded to Walmart for a report of a hit and run. The complainant advised that their vehicle

Driving Suspended

June 30th, 2025 – 4:21 PM
While patrolling East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, officers observed a vehicle crossing the fog line and
conducted a traffic stop. The driver admitted to driving on a suspended license and had previously been
charged once. Dispatch advised the driver had eight prior charges for driving while suspended. Brittany
Burnette, 34, of Lynchburg, was arrested and the vehicle was towed. She was transported to the
magistrate’s office and released on an unsecured bond. (Incident #PD25-00690)
Narcotics Violation
862 Burks Hill Rd
June 30th, 2025 – 11:19 PM
Officers observed a male subject pushing a moped and made contact. A brief foot pursuit ensued. John
Nichols, 35, of Bedford, was arrested for obstruction and driving while revoked (DUI-related). A search
revealed suspected narcotics. Nichols was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. Warrants for
possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, obstruction, and driving revoked were obtained
and served. He was held without bond. (Incident #PD25-00692)
