Town of Bedford, VA — The Town of Bedford Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred on August 18, 2024, in the 500 block of Blue Ridge Avenue.
At approximately 5:13 p.m., emergency services responded to the scene where they found a silver Honda CRV. The vehicle had collided with a guard rail, which penetrated through both the front and rear of the vehicle. The driver, an 84-year-old man, sustained minor cuts to his hands. His condition is currently stable.
The passenger, an 84-year-old woman, was found unconscious. Despite the efforts of the emergency medical services (EMS), she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The Town of Bedford Police Department is working closely with fire and rescue teams to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
The identities of the individuals involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones affected by this incident.
