Arrests Made in Ongoing Bedford Police Department Investigations

 

Bedford, VA – 04/24/2024

 

The Bedford Police Department announces significant progress in two ongoing investigations, resulting in the arrests of individuals connected with serious offenses against children.

 

On April 23, 2024, Richard A Stoneberger, aged 57 and a resident of Bedford, VA, was taken into custody on three felony charges under VA Code 18.2-374.3, about the use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children. The collaborative efforts of the Bedford Police Department, the Virginia State Police, and the U.S. Marshal Service were instrumental in bringing about this arrest.

 

Additionally, on April 11, 2024, Franco Calestino Herrera, aged 39 and hailing from Montgomery County, VA, was charged with class 3 felony offenses related to sexual crimes against children, as part of an ongoing investigation led by the Bedford Police Department.
